This afternoon I went to the gym as I usually do on a Wednesday. Today was different however as I had new shoes! It’s something I knew I needed to do but have been putting off for a long time. There was always something else to pay for and kids that needed new shoes as they had grown out of theirs.
Anyway my personal trainer partner insisted I get new ones due to sore feet after exercising. It made such a difference to my work out and I’m now keen to do some more running in my preparation for Tough Mudder next month.
Look after yourself!
I’m going to use the adage of the airline safety brief “fit your own oxygen mask before fitting your childs”. This is something I need to remind myself of more often. I don’t hesitate before working out how I can give my children what they need but usually put myself last when it comes to what I need.
I need to remember that I am a person too and there are things I need. After all I’m a happier mum if I look after myself!
Shake things up!
It is in life as it is with exercise. Don’t get stuck in a rut. Change up your routines in life as often as you change up your exercise routine. We have changed our morning routine at home to hopefully get us where we need to be on time with less yelling from me. Unfortunately I am never anywhere early but I do try to be on time!
Reading a book when I get in to bed is one of my favourite things that I have not done in years. It is something that I am trying to do at least a few nights per week and I am feeling happier and sleeping better because of it. I am now looking at other ways I can shake up my life so that I don’t feel like I’m living groundhog day.
